Seven Toast Topping Ideas

I have an unwavering enthusiasm for sourdough bread and I will travel great distances for a few loaves. I have been known to buy a dozen or more at once, slice them and stash them in the freezer, content in the knowledge that I will enjoy delicious breakfasts and lunches of sourdough toast for weeks. This blog post is just a few toast ideas for any other sourdough toast lovers out there, be it for a morning meal, lunch time fare or a late night snack.

Smashed Avocado with a pinch of sea salt and pepper, topped with cucumber ribbons and a sprinkle of chilli flakes.
This one might be nice sliced into smaller pieces and served as canapés .
Chocolate Spread with sliced banana. Top this one with toasted flaked almonds or chopped hazelnuts. One of my favourite combos!
Sautéed mushrooms with sea salt and pepper and softly boiled or poached egg. Perfect for breakfast, supper, mid-morning snack.
Smear goats cheese on sourdough, top with peppery rocket, sliced juicy figs, some more tangy goats cheese, chopped hazelnuts and drizzle a cinnamon balsamic dressing over it. Delicious and great for a dinner party starter.
More goats cheese on sourdough with fresh autumnal blackberries & a drizzle of raw honey. Divine.
Buttered sourdough with organic smoked salmon with squeeze of lemon and a poached egg on top. Twist some black pepper to finish.
Brush the sourdough with extra virgin olive oil (or butter), add sliced cajun chicken breast, sliced avocado and cherry tomatoes, sea salt & a twist of pepper.
